Gartner Inc., an information technology research company, recognized Google as a leading e-mail vendor in their 2008 report “Magic Quadrant for E-Mail Security Boundaries.”
With spam rates and security threats constantly increasing, e-mail providers must be able to define new strategies and invest in resources that will detect these issues. Gartner’s report evaluates multiple e-mail vendors on their ability to develop and execute an innovative plan.
Gartner divides the vendors into 4 quadrants: leaders, challengers, visionaries, and niche players. The leaders, which include Google, have the most complete vision and best execution. Gartner commends Google on their use of resources, easy-to-use interface, improved DLP dictionary capabilities, web security, and international presence.
